Bye August

August was National Women’s Month here in South Africa, and we celebrated by featuring three groundbreaking women in landscape architecture in our country on our LinkedIn page. The ladies in question were Joan Pim, Anne Sutton and our own Erika van den Berg, whom I’m sure we can still claim even though she has retired! We salute all of the indomitable women of our country and celebrate their inestimable contributions. 

 Also in August, the South African Landscapers Institute Awards were announced, and two of our projects were awarded double gold awards. They are the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria and the Houghton Hotel. On the subject of the latter project, Life Landscapes told ProLandscaper that “the brief from the landscape architects and the choice of plants material was not an easy task.” Well, it may be true that we don’t always make things easy, not least for ourselves, but we think the results are worth the extra effort. Well done to all involved with these projects. And sorry.
